After going for an ECG on Monday and getting the expected all clear, I’m looking forward to getting going again with my training. I think the whole thing was a case of too much too soon after having been ill, maxing out my heart rate and then me thinking I was going to die!
I am however going to be changing the focus of my training from a lot of anaerobic, high intensity workouts to building a good aerobic base first. I will therefore be keeping 85% (159 BPM) as my upper limit when doing intervals and 80% (152 BPM) as my none intervals maximum, for longer runs.
I think this should maximise my fitness for the first race in April and limit any adverse effects on the heart.
